Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a deeply relaxing combination of client centered table massage interspersed with the use of warmed basalt stones. These are placed at various points on the body to encourage increased circulation, ease of tension, and a sense of grounding energy. Therapists will also hold the stones, repeatedly passing over and working tense muscles. The penetrating heat from the stones helps soften the tissue for a deeply relaxing experience. Liz, Isaiah, Marina, and Sabrina offer hot stone sessions throughout the week.
Warm Bamboo
Similar to hot stone massage, this modality incorporates the warmed bamboo dowels into the massage session. The smooth dowels are heated to allow for an effective and soothing application of pressure especially suited to larger muscle groups such as hamstrings, quads, and upper back. If you like heat, warm bamboo is a great addition to any session, whether you are looking for a relaxing deep tissue experience or a calming Swedish massage. Amanda and provide this service to clients.
Cupping Massage
Cupping has been used as a therapeutic modality for thousands of years to help alleviate conditions such as pain due to injury, limited range of motion and stress related ailments. Your massage therapist will use silicone cups to create decompression of your muscles and surrounding tissue. Each session is tailored to address your specific areas of focus. For some, the application of the cups, like a deep tissue massage, can feel intense during the few minutes they are engaged while others find it deeply relaxing throughout. Cupping can help to improve blood flow, decrease inflammation and lessen pain and anxiety. Try a cupping session today with Momoe, Liz, or Amanda and experience the benefits for yourself!
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD uses gentle rhythmic strokes to help stimulate your lymphatic system and to move fluid out of congested areas to reduce swelling and pain and promote deep relaxation. This style of massage can help with inflammatory conditions such as autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, headaches/migraines, injury recovery such as whiplash, sprains/strains and post-surgical swelling. This is a very slow, nurturing and relaxing form of massage that can ease pain, speed healing and calm the nervous system.
- For clients with lymphedema, as a MLD certified therapists we can work with people maintaining stage 0 and 1 lymphedema. We do not provide care for advanced lymphedema, compression, wound care or garment fitting.
- For everyone: Because MLD moves fluid through your body you should not receive MLD if you do not have healthy kidney or heart function.
Marina is our certified manual lymphatic drainage practitioner.
Breast/Chest Massage
Therapeutic breast massage performed by a specially trained, licensed practitioner can have a wide array of benefits when it is incorporated into your regular massage routine or to help manage or treat an acute issue. Therapeutic massage of the breast and chest tissue can help improve circulation of both blood and lymph, reduce congestion in breast tissue, help with posture and fascial restrictions in the chest wall and ribcage, and restore range of motion in the upper body. Your practitioner will ask you to fill out an additional consent form before your session so the work is done to your comfort level either undraped or through the sheet. Whether you are recovering from a surgery or suffer from chronic postural issues, consider incorporating breast or chest massage into your next session with Lyra. Marina also works with breast/chest tissue within her lymphatic work.
